What about Webkinz?

Anyone who is around little kids these days has probably heard of webkinz (http://www.webkinz.com/us_en/). There is a tour on the site that will help you understand how it works if you aren't familiar with these fuzzy creatures.

ABC News posted a blog (http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3033380&page=1) in April of 2007 titled "Is the Webkinz Craze Bad for Kids?"

Read over the blog and then comment on the educational value (or lack thereof) of Webkinz.

Wow, I had no idea how big Webkinz were. This blog was very informative and I agree that in moderation and with supervision it's not a bad thing. Young children have opportunities to learn new things and become comfortable with the computer but it must be balanced with other activities. To spend too much time on any one thing is rarely a good idea!

I think like anything these days, moderation is the key. I think Ann Pleshette had some great ideas. Parents need to monitor, they need to make sure there is a time limit on the computer and they need to make sure the kids go outside to play! It will be time consuming for the parents, but such is life!!!
